Deck and porch floors are coated with a penetrating stain or durable enamel designed for heavy foot traffic and exposure to the elements. A slip-resistant additive is incorporated when needed to enhance traction. The finish is applied using a lambswool applicator or airless sprayer, ensuring deep penetration into wood grain and seams. End grains and exposed board edges receive additional sealing to prevent moisture intrusion. For stained surfaces, excess product is wiped off after penetration to avoid a sticky residue, while painted finishes are laid down in thin, even coats to prevent pooling and premature peeling.
