Building a wall (Frame construction)

We build walls with frame construction. We snap layout lines, set top and bottom plates, stand studs on consistent centers, add headers with king and jack studs for openings, and place blocking where needed. We plumb, square, and tie into floor, ceiling, and adjoining framing so the run reads straight. If necessary, sockets, switches, windows, and doors can be added. After the frame has been constructed, soundproofing and plasterboard cladding are recommended.
